My name is Terri and I am a recovering shepherdess. Seriously. My spouse and I have lived on a small farm in Minnesota since 2006. We recently sold off the last of our flock so my focus has changed to playing with color and yarn!
I hope to add local farm fiber, roving, batts to the shop in 2015. Sheep breeds will include Finnsheep, Shetland, BFL, Gotland, and crosses. If you are interested in learning more, check out our farms website at www.roundaboutacres.com
Thank you for checking out our shop! We have hand-painted yarns, each individually dyed with professional, acid-based dyes. The color is set with vinegar or citric acid and rinsed until the water runs clear. Our fibers are animal fibers such as wool, silk, cashmere. Nylon is added for durability in many of the yarn bases.
Our initial focus is on yarn that is next-to-the-skin soft for those folks who, like the owner and dyer, have difficulty with the "prickle" of wool. In 2015, we plan to add fiber from our farm in the form of batts, roving, and raw wool for spinners.
Again, thank you for stopping by and please contact us with questions!

Even though skeins may have the same color way name and be dyed in the same dye pot, variations occur. Part of the joy and creativity of hand-dyed yarn is the individual results!
It is recommended that you alternate skeins every few rows to prevent pooling or minimize differences in dye lots. If you think you will need more than one skein for your project, we recommend you purchase them at the same time.
These skeins are truly unique. These are the skeins where I experiment, let caution fly to the wind, and play with color!
We live on a farm in a dog and cat-friendly home. We are non-smokers. The finished yarn is stored in bins in a room away from the pets. We cannot guarantee the yarn is completely free from pet dander or allergens.
